IRIS VAN HERPEN AUTUMN WINTER 2019 COLLECTION

IRIS VAN HERPEN AUTUMN WINTER 2019 COLLECTION

We have been wowed by another incredible and unforgettable collection by Iris Van Herpen with her 2019 Autumn/Winter Haute Couture collection titled ‘Hypnosis’.

Dutch couturier Iris van Herpen is someone that WORTH has always been inspired by due to her ability to bring together the essentials of fashion design, cutting edge technology and innovation to establish a highly desirable outcome. The designer gives us a glimpse at what is now possible with fashion and that conventional methods of creating is not the only way.

Her most recent haute couture collection was showcased in Paris’s Élysée Montmartre and was inspired by the wind-powered kinetic outdoor work of American artist Anthony Howe.

To create the collection, Iris collaborated with Professor Philip Beesley to create a technique that utilises printed satin which has been plotter cut into thousands of rippled shapes that are interlinked, establishing a garment that amplifies the movement of the body. Other methods were also adopted into the collection such as laser-printing, heat-bonding and laser-cutting which are merged with traditional couture methods.

We look forward to seeing what is next to come from this talent.
