WORTH was absolutely blown away by the latest Iris Van Herpen Autumn / Winter Haute Couture collection, which was debut in Paris this month.
Herpen is the perfect example of how a designer can bring together the essentials of fashion design, cutting edge technology and innovation to establish a highly desirable outcome. The designer gives us a glimpse at what is now possible with fashion and that conventional methods of creating is not the only way.
Her collections utilize original designs established with 3D Printing and unconventional materials to create unforgettable works of art. The latest collection titled “Syntopia” displayed the continuous research of the designer into the organic and non-organic with sculptured dresses created using various materials from woven leather and wool, pleated silk organza and metal merged with 3D printing.
Although the usage of 3D printing created a very architectural collection, through references of feathers and wings, the result was light and airy with the assistance of an instillation hovering above the models that moved throughout the show.
We are excited to see more of Iris Van Herpen’s inspiring work that is paving the way for others who want to challenge traditional notions of fashion. We also look forward to seeing the development of WORTH Partnership Project concepts that are innovating in the field of fashion.
