KIDS SOCKS COME TO LIFE WITH WALKYTALKIES

KIDS SOCKS COME TO LIFE WITH WALKYTALKIES

Research has proven that early reading improves the level of technical reading at an older age while interactive reading stimulates the development of language. Reading at a young age is an important investment for the future, that’s why the 2 brands WALKY TALKIES and BACHHOC2 created innovative kid sock puppets that come to life with smart technologies.

Combining augmented reality with fashion is a way of making clothes fun and entertaining for children – teaching them to interact with their body and fostering social activities while introducing children to reading. This project will also encourage parents and kids to adapt to new technologies, keeping them curious and encouraged and is also fun to explore together. This product includes an interactive reading app that features all of Walkytalkies strong characters – the sock puppets. The app has 4 themed stories with decision moments to be made in a 3D (game-like) environment shown in augmented reality.

Want to know more about the brands that were involved in this project? WALKYTALKIES is a brand created by Nelleke van der Burg, a freelance graphic designer who loves printing and has set up a collection of 16 different sock designs for children. BACHHOCH2 is a brand created by Thomas, a goldsmith-turned-designer mainly working in the field of industrial design along with Stella, a fashion and graphic designer who is always looking for new ways of using technology.
