WORTH is always on the lookout for initiatives and organizations that support the growth of the creative industry and encourage the new wave of talent in Europe. We would therefore like to present Cumulus, The International Association of Universities and Collages of Art, Design and Media.
Cumulus is the only global association to serve art and design education and research. It is a forum for partnership and transfer of knowledge and best practices. Cumulus consists currently of 257 members from 54 countries.
Their aim is to build a network which encourages a dynamic and flexible academic forum which brings together top-level educational institutions from all parts of the world. They facilitate the institutions and organizations in the field of art, design and media; and through the encouragement of co-operation with industry and business.
The organization promotes talented youth and increases visibility of their work through competitions, summer schools and exhibitions. With the potential careers of today’s students in mind, the first Cumulus Think Tank ‘Designers: Career and Professionalization’ was published in 2010 to provide insights into the role of design and innovation in the companies.
Cumulus is helping guide the design industry, project and research to a more sustainable future and members of the organization signed the Kyoto Design Declaration in March 2008 which made way for the Cumulus Green award, an international award focused on cultivating and leading global cultures, societies and industries towards more ecological and responsible solutions.
