The message of the project
AI CIRCULAR showcases the capabilities of AI-led design in collaboration with human craftsmanship, with the goal of creating a more sustainable and ethical manufacturing and sampling cycle in the fashion industry. The project aims to demonstrate that even small designers/brands can make new technology more sustainable. Their designs are devoid of gender and class overtones, attempting to create a more inclusive workplace.
The idea behind the project
The project concept originated when Martin was studying at the Royal College of Art in London, and was focusing his Phd studies on artificial intelligence-led design. His creative technique is research-based; he collects photos and information and feeds them to the AI software, after which he applies his own imagination and ingenuity to finalise the design selection.
He was intrigued by Knitwear Labs' waste infrastructure and understanding, as well as their experimental approach and partnership with well-known designers and companies.
What next?
The project is developing steadily, and they are now in the conceptualization phase. As part of the series, the final product will be shown as a capsule collection in Paris.
