The message of the project
Babybo is a portable baby nest designed to provide a safe, comfortable, and versatile space for babies. Effortlessly converting into a play mat, changing pad, or sleeping pod, it caters to the dynamic needs of modern parenting. Its lightweight and compact design makes it ideal for travel and adaptable to everyday situations, regardless of the setting.
Every material and component is carefully selected to prioritise non-toxicity and recyclability, aligning with a vision for a circular lifecycle. This approach reduces environmental impact while ensuring a healthier, safer option for both babies and the planet.
The idea behind the project
The project began in response to studies revealing that many baby sleep products contain toxins harmful to babies' health. Additionally, commonly used oil-based foams have a significant negative impact on the environment. Recognising the need for a safer and more sustainable alternative, Babybo was designed to address these issues.
The idea was also driven by the need to offer convenience for modern, eco-conscious parents. By integrating multiple functions into a single compact and lightweight design, Babybo reduces the need for additional products and is easy to bring along. This solution supports a sustainable lifestyle while prioritising flexibility and ease for parents.
What next?
Looking ahead, the partnership between Sumo and Charlotta Åman aims to position Babybo as a must-have for conscious and design savvy parents worldwide. The product will debut at Salone del Mobile, showcasing its innovative design to a global audience of industry leaders. Launching in 2025 on the market, Babybo will be available direct-to-consumer and in curated kids’ concept stores. The goal is to make Babybo a staple in sustainable baby care.
