The message of the project
The project fosters a partnership between Paris-based eco-designer Federico, founder of the brand Badini C., and Turin-based ethical manufacturer Il Gelso. Federico employs eco-design techniques and exclusively sources materials with a reduced environmental impact, such as upcycled deadstock or certified materials made in Europe from recycled or organic fibres. Il Gelso is a social enterprise that employs women in vulnerable situations, promoting social reinsertion and manufacturing high-end jersey products. The objective is to implement an innovative business model that offers made-to-order designer garments with customisable details to fit the style and body shapes of customers, with particular attention to body inclusivity. This model also aims to develop a practical production process that is time-effective, scalable, and sustainable.
The idea behind the project
The envisaged positive impacts include supporting European ethical and circular suppliers, empowering and re-skilling vulnerable women through ecological garment production, and reducing waste during the production, commercialisation, and consumption stages by offering a slow consumption model that is more inclusive. This approach aims to provide affordable, high-quality fashion.
