Fauna: Eco-receptive Façade System

3D-printed vertical ecosystems to enhance urban biodiversity by embedding habitats for critically endangered species within building facades.

Fauna: Symbiotic Architectural Envelops

The message of the project

Rapid urbanization is disrupting biodiversity leading to critical species decline due to natural habitat loss. Building facades present a unique opportunity as they cover vast areas and are extremely underutilized. Fauna is a 3D-printed cladding system that creates scalable, customizable habitats, turning buildings into ecological assets.

The idea behind the project

We are pioneering a new era of urban design by converting sterile concrete jungles into thriving architectural forests. Our interspecies approach creates built environments that benefit both humans and wildlife. Fauna’s bio-receptive surfaces encourage natural growth of algae and moss, acting as carbon sinks. Our goal is to make nature accessible to all inhabitants in the heart of hyper-dense cities.

What next?

Our goal is to scale Fauna globally, creating a network of interconnected urban ecosystems. We aim to integrate our data-driven systems with nature finance mechanisms, incentivizing biodiversity enhancement and carbon sequestration through traceable, verifiable impact. We envision a thriving network that transforms cities into vital ecological contributors.
