The message of the project

itthon. is committed to preserving artisan knowledge, bringing cultural roots to life, and shaping local identity.

The brand is based on the handicraft traditions of Vojvodina with the objective of providing new, creative opportunities for the local artisans. Adrienn and Bálint, the founders believe that designers may play a catalytic role in creating good social effects through community projects. Throughout their brand, they hope to inspire the community to harness its craft tradition, allowing them to thrive in a more sustainable future.

The idea behind the project

The collaboration between the highly qualified workshops and themselves, the designers, results in a series of home accessories based on local resources and traditional techniques yet characterised by a contemporary feel.

Their creative process is built around the workshops that cooperate with them. First they get to know their equipment and expertise, and then they design objects according to this know-how.

Antal Foundry was founded in 1930 and has been operated by the family since then. They do traditional iron casting, which is a great technique and material for making kitchen accessories.

Cast iron cookware has a long history in the kitchen. Casting is a sustainable and circular manufacturing process since the material can be recycled continuously. Cast iron cookware, on the other hand, is a long-lasting and healthy kitchen choice because it is a chemical-free and robust material.

Together with the WORTH project, itthon. begins a new collaboration with Antal Foundry to create and implement a high-quality cookware range.

What next?

itthon. connects craft and artisan workshops to the world of contemporary design. Their long-term goal is to create a maker network. As a result, they are constantly on the lookout for new workshops and craftspeople to collaborate with in the area.
