This ‘denim skin’ seat is a combination of traditional textile techniques and modern technology. It is inspired by natural sheepskins but made of denim waste material.
Jeans are a fashion staple but an environmental headache. Worldwide, over 1.2 billion pairs of jeans are purchased every year. However, the production of denim is an inconceivably large burden on the environment, and recycling is virtually non-existent in the denim industry.
The Visionary Lab and CQ Studio have combined the traditional craft of hand-tufting with innovative technology to transform discarded denim into a ‘denim skin’ fabric in order to create a sheepskin-inspired vegan rug.
