SMART LIFE JACKET FOR WATER SPORTS WITH REAL-RIME LOCALISATION REDUCING RESCUE PROCEDURE 90% AND A HEATING SYSTEM REDUCING HYPOTHERMIC SYMPTOMS

THE CHALLENGE
To practice water sports implies taking risks and frequent accidents and incidents that imply rescue procedures. In order to minimise the rescue procedures and increase the security of the users, the idea of this project is to create a well-designed smart life jacket that will provide a step further in the optimisation, comfort and safety for users during water sports practicing.

THE SOLUTION
A custom made life jacket vest was developed, pattern in size Large an made in 100% polyester NEW waterproof fabric for the lining and the external part of the vest. It was also used NEW 5mm waterproof foam, in 6 layers for the proper buoyancy and two NEW reflective stickers on each shoulder. The inner side contains a heating system operating with a battery in order to heat the user in case of emergency. In the front right side of the jacket it has been installed a custom-made PCB circuit with a GPS sensor, a GSM circuit which sends the geographical coordinates through internet to an online platform. This is the added safety value, as it allows the rescue team to have the stigma/coordinates of the user in real time and facilitates faster and easier reach for the rescue operation. On the back side of the vest there is a solar panel charger, to charge the battery of PCB to extend the battery autonomy of the device. When the system is turn ON, two LEDS lights are ON which are installed on the right and also the left shoulder of the life jacket in order to help the visual detection of the user. There are also two ON/OFF buttons, one for the PCB and one for the heating system.
