Fashion accessories made from the by-products from the beer brewing process.

Bephased

The Message of the Project

Phased introduces a groundbreaking approach to tote bag design, fusing traditional craftsmanship with advanced technology. By analysing bag structures, guided by Finite Element Analysis (FEA) typically used in civil and mechanical engineering, they identify stress points and optimise distributions within woven fibre scaffolds using algorithmic manipulation. By strategically densifying meshes in high-stress regions, they enhance durability. The innovative process incorporates ‘Beer Leather’, a waste-derived material developed in-house, which is cast onto woven fibre scaffolds, resulting in a distinctive material fusion.

The Idea Behind the Project

Each tote pattern is meticulously crafted for one-piece casting, minimising joints and offcuts. This collection of tote bags represents a seamless integration of traditional craft and modern technology.
