GreenPieces – the pan-European Chess Set

The message of the project

GreenPieces aims to showcase examples of Europe’s ‘green’ architecture by highlighting innovative solutions that facilitate a green transition in the construction sector. The project seeks to draw attention to tangible solutions that enable the building of a more sustainable future with every step taken towards it. By sourcing materials locally and ideas globally, Green Pieces strives to uphold the values of cooperation and ethical production on which the project was founded while remaining open to new ideas and contributions.

The idea behind the project

Despite being recognised as a priority by most Europeans, the challenge posed by climate change still requires greater publicity. The project has chosen chess for its long-standing tradition as an educational tool that fosters strategic and analytical skills. This makes it an ideal platform for the message GreenPieces aims to convey. The product will be handcrafted using locally supplied raw materials, while its final form will emerge from international cooperation among like-minded individuals committed to caring for and protecting the planet.

What next?

GreenPieces aspires to create a product that advocates for a more sustainable way of living. By promoting sustainability in architecture, the project aims to take small steps towards minimising the negative impact of the construction sector. Furthermore, the product hopes to provide an alternative to mass-produced home decor and corporate gifts.
