LIVING GARMENT

A responsible product line that blurs the lines between fashion, art, and commerce to produce environmentally friendly clothes

LIVING GARMENT

LIVING GARMENT is a responsibly-produced product line that blurs the borders between fashion, art, and merchandise to deliver garments that expand ecological consciousness.

LIVING GARMENT is composed of two parts: a core line - a hybrid of functional uniforms and merchandise products made of deadstock fabric, and artists' editions - made in collaboration with our creative community from cotton recycled from consumer fashion waste.

With a strong focus on contemporary art, the brand functions in unison with LIVING CONTENT - a digital contemporary art agency that highlights exhibitions, features interviews with artists, and creates events and exhibitions.

For WORTH we created nine prototypes for our core line and three artists' editions.

Our core line challenges the idea of a utilitarian uniform. The garments are designed with modular, changeable parts, which offer our patrons the flexibility to wear them in a personal way. The garments can be transformed into jackets, pants, or shorts through the removable parts, allowing the wearer to customize them based on temperature or style preference.

The artists’ editions are hoodies inspired by tourist and art merchandise and made with CIRCULOSE® a new recycled cotton fiber manufactured by Renewcell, in Sweden, entirely from textile waste.

We made three hoodies for three cities (New York, Paris, and Berlin) to celebrate the international artists in our community and to highlight the fluctuation of a city's creative identity beyond its borders. We invited 27 artists to contribute graphics for the three sweatshirts related to each respective city.

LIVING GARMENT

All LIVING GARMENT products are created in close collaboration with INVICTUS, a woman-led and family-owned manufacturer in Romania. Living Garment has exclusive access to utilize INVICTUS deadstock of military and industrial grade materials, some of which are proprietary (INVICTUS is recognized as a Research and Development Unit by the National Ministry). In using these materials and the archive of uniform patterns that would otherwise be fashion waste, Living Garment creates uniquely durable and functional designs, closing the loop on a product's lifecycle.

LIVING GARMENT thinks about creativity, community, and how consumption impacts our environment. Our long-term goal is to encourage consumers to look at garments beyond fashion in a novel and thoughtful manner while providing our global community of artists and cultural producers with a vehicle to make and distribute objects beyond art.
