PRoACT: Polyamide ReManuFactory Circular Textiles

The project recycles 99 percent of textile waste using clean technologies and no chemicals. This waste is transformed into new textiles and products, closing the loop and creating wealth from waste.

PRoACT: Polyamide ReManuFactory Circular Textiles

The message of the project

ProAct is focused on producing innovative materials for the textile industry. The objective is to develop high-value, high-performance products from low-value sportswear textiles that are currently unrecyclable. This initiative aims to prevent landfill waste globally while contributing to the green transition towards more sustainable production and consumption, in line with the 2030 Strategy for Circular Textiles, and support the decarbonisation of the textiles industry.

The idea behind the project

Even when swimwear is made from recycled materials, it is essential to close the loop to repurpose those textiles and maintain their value. The partners have collaborated to separate and re-spin new textiles, and the Worth Project is enabling this process to be perfected for commercialisation of clean technology.

What next?

The ultimate goal is to create circular garments designed to be recycled at the end of their first life, enabling products and materials as a service, which represents the future of circular clothing. The project’s ambitions extend beyond merely creating initial yarns and textiles; it also aims to share knowledge that can be utilised by all European sportswear brands.
