The message of the project
Re-loop is answering the urgency to redesign how textiles are made, how we interact with them, as well as how they enter the recycling process.
The idea behind the project
Millions of textiles filled with various materials end up as textile waste every second. Even though we are surrounded by textiles most of the time we no longer know what materials are inside our cushions, blankets and mattresses. The covers and structures are inaccessible and difficult to clean. The textile is not meant to last or to be recycled.
What next?
The partnership brings together expertise in knitwear development, material research, and product design, with a highly digitized process that can be scaled up while being produced locally and on demand. The innovation capacity of the project lies in its use of knitting to reimagine how textile objects can be constructed ,circular and accessible.
