Documentary Design is passionate about creating innovative, sustainable products inspired by the materiality and identity of the regions in which they work. Their vision is to bridge craftsmanship and cultural heritage with technology, redesigning production processes and championing organic, low-impact materials.

SILÊNCIO is an acoustic panel that combines the versatility of banana fibre—light, flexible, and durable—with the expertise of Sound Hub Denmark's experienced acoustic engineers.

The Idea Behind the Project

By partnering with Gran Canaria-based artisan Pilar Ureña, Documentary Design ensures that each panel is a unique work of art that pays homage to local craft traditions. Acoustically, SILÊNCIO absorbers and diffusers meet the highest industry standards and are co-developed and tested by experienced engineers at Sound Hub Denmark. SILÊNCIO is not only an elegant acoustic solution but also joins the product family of MAPU SPEAKERS—the world's first sound system handcrafted of clay, wood, and wool.

Documentary Design promotes a circular economy and sustainable production and consumption, supports the reinvention of craftsmanship, and pays tribute to the product's place of origin, with the ultimate aim of promoting a triple sustainable impact: environmental, social, and cultural.
