The message of the project

The project aims to reintroduce the use of shellac, a sustainable and eco-friendly material, in the furniture and interior design market. By combining 3D printing technology with the unique properties of shellac, it is creating a market-ready material that offers customizability and aesthetic appeal. With the support of the WORTH Partnership, the project will further develop and optimize this material, establish a transnational research project, and leverage Aedittos platform for commercialization.

The idea behind the project

Inspired by the need for more sustainable production and consumption, the project focuses

on the circular economy and the transition towards greener materials. The potential of

shellac, a forgotten material, was discovered, and its attributes as a viable alternative to

plastics were recognized. By reimagining shellac in the context of 3D printing, the project

aims to revolutionise the furniture and interior design industry. The collaboration of Ori,

Ginger Additive and Aeditto allows the project to combine expertise in hardware, software,

and material research, resulting in a synergistic partnership that drives innovation and

sustainability.
